The Melanoma Research Foundation is a nonprofit organization founded in 1996 by Diana Ashby, a melanoma patient. Diana created the MRF after three years of battling the deadly cancer, a period in which she grew increasingly frustrated with the ineffectiveness of the current medical treatments for melanoma. This time also marked the emergence of Diana's especially strong sense of compassion for other melanoma patients, a trait that became the catalyst for her actions in the final year of her life. Since then, The Melanoma Research Foundation has gone to become the largest non-profit organization dedicated soley to finding a cure for this deadly disease and for providing the support and information needed by those who have been stricken.
The MRF seeks donations and other sources of contributions to fund research grants to gifted melanoma researchers who are striving to ensure that a cure for melanoma will be found at the earliest possible moment. Since MRF research grants go directly to melanoma researchers, nearly all individual donations go directly to fund research.
The MRF also provides patient support and educational services, including this site
