Mission Statement
The Melanoma Patients' Information Page (MPIP) is a noncommercial site founded to provide support and information to melanoma patients and those who care for them.

It is our desire to provide patients with the latest high-quality information from reputable sources and the tools to decipher and organize that information. The MPIP is founded on the belief that proactive patients who educate themselves to take an active role in decisions regarding their therapy can effect their outcome in a positive way.

In addition, the MPIP provides various forums to allow patients to interact with other patients to provide support and share experiences and resources.

All services provided by the MPIP are free to all users.

History of the MPIP
In the fall of 1995, my wife's sister Cindy was diagnosed with recurrent nodular melanoma, the result of a misdiagnosed mole that had been removed but not biopsied some years earlier. The MPIP started as a way of sharing the information I had uncovered on the web with my far-flung family. Before long I was getting e-mail from other people who had found it through one of the search engines asking for more information. I realized that a need existed for a site to organize the vast amount of information available and the MPIP was the result.
