On the day Cindy was laid to rest, family and friends gathered to share our sorrow. We joined with melanoma patients around the globe in releasing balloons at an appointed time to symbolize Cindy's release from her struggle. In the middle photograph, from left to right, are Cindy's mother-in-law Antoinette, brother-in-law Jeff, sons Brian and Christopher, husband Gary, and son Matthew.

After the release, the balloons coalesced high in the sky to form a near perfect heart! A final touching message from the woman who had touched so many. Evidently, Cindy meant it for our eyes only because the heart so clearly seen by those present was not caught on film.
